Deming Health Care Academy graduates

Students learn more about health related careers!

Twenty students from Deming High School invested two weeks of their summer vacation to study and learn about Health Care related careers. The students attended class for four hours in the morning and worked in the community in various service-learning experiences. Not only did the students gain excellent first-hand experience in health-related careers they also earned high school and college credit through the Dual-Credit program. The Health Careers Academy was made possible by the following partners: Western New Mexico University, Deming Luna County Economic Development, Southwest Center for Health Innovation through its FORWARD NM program, Deming Public Schools, Mimbres Memorial Hospital, Deming Luna County Chamber of Commerce, and City of Deming.

Honored to announce our high school MESA team is once again champs!

by David Jaramillo, Teacher and MESA Coach

I am happy to announce our DHS Mesa team represented NM well once again, defending their national title from last year winning the main prize once again. They had won the state title in March and traveled this week to Philadelphia for the National Engineering Design competition. The members consist of now seniors David Velez, Antoni Varela, and Adrian Luna, and now sophomore Adrianna Darrow. David Jaramillo is the high school Mesa coach and was assisted this year by Robert and Monika Velez. Also in the picture are the NM middle school winners from Chaparral Middle School in Chaparral NM, who placed 2nd at the National competition. The high school returned around 12am early June 24th morning and received a police escort into town.

SchoolBlocks offers a unique and powerful personalized search system. A member of the public, searching for "homework" might see an announcement from the school as the first result. However, if the user is logged in, they would see their teacher’s latest homework assignment as the top result.
